What are your options to immigrate to Canada as an accountant?
- Express Entry
The Express Entry Program was created with the goal of quickly tracking skilled and/or experienced visa applicants from immigrants so that they may readily and effectively come to Canada, work, and contribute to the economy. There are three different programmes available:
- Federal skilled workers program
- Federal skilled trades program
- Canadian experience class
You must build a profile in which you must fill out your personal information. Based on the information you supply, a Comprehensive Ranking Score (CRS) is calculated, and you are placed in a pool of candidates. Following that, candidates are chosen from a pool of candidates depending on their CRS score in frequent draws.
- Provincial Nominee Program
The Provincial Nomination Program is similar to Express Entry, however it is only available in certain provinces. If you had a job offer in British Columbia, for example, you may apply to the BC provincial government for a provincial nomination. If you are successful, you will receive a letter that you can submit with your permanent residency application to the IRCC. It may appear to be the slower route to get a visa, but it does provide you more control over the process.
You can also apply for a provincial nomination without a work offer, either through the Express Entry programme, by filing an Expression of Interest (EOI) in the province where you want to go, or by contacting the province directly. Accountants are in high demand in most regions, therefore your chances are excellent. If your province nomination on your Express Entry profile is approved, you will receive an additional 600 points on your CRS, which, assuming you are eligible to move to Canada, will increase your chances of receiving an ITA for permanent residence in Canada.
